PDFCreator is an application for converting documents into Portable Document Format (PDF) format on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Once installed, it allows the user to select PDFCreator as their printer, allowing almost any application to print to PDF.[1] It is GPL-licensed free software,[1] written in Microsoft Visual Basic, and depends on a few proprietary Windows components, such as HTML Help and Windows Printer Drivers, which practically makes it only available for Microsoft Windows environments (all 32-bit MS Windows — 95/98/NT/2000/XP and Vista). The actual PDF generation is handled by Ghostscript. Besides being installed as a printer driver, PDFCreator can be associated with .ps files to manually convert PostScript to PDF format. The installation package includes an optional closed source browser toolbar that serves ads and monitors usage.[2] The OpenCD project chose PDFCreator as the best-of-breed free software package for creating PDF files in Windows.

    TightVNC is a cross-platform open source remote desktop software application that uses and extends VNC's RFB protocol to control another computer's screen remotely. The software is free and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The extensions provide for 'tight encoding', which improves performance over low bandwidth connections. TightVNC is cross-compatible with other client and server implementations of VNC; however, tight encoding is not supported by most other implementations, so it is necessary to use TightVNC at both ends to gain the full advantage of its enhancements.

    aMSN is a Windows Live Messenger clone licensed under the GPL. Its main objective is to assist users who are new to the GNU/Linux operating system keep in contact with those who use the Microsoft program which is available only on Windows and Macintosh. To achieve this objective, aMSN attempts to emulate the look and feel of Windows Live Messenger, and supports many of its features. aMSN has features not present in Windows Live Messenger. Users can set alarms, are able to see others who have removed them from their contact list, and are able to open many profiles at once. It is also very customizable, with extensions and themes available at the main site. aMSN also allows functions not available in Microsoft Messenger for Mac (the Macintosh counterpart of Windows Live Messenger), such as webcam support, and the "nudge" feature. aMSN is available for any system that supports Tcl/Tk 8.4 or higher. This includes Microsoft Windows, Macintosh and any UNIX variant including Linux. Since SVN version 20070216, the default user interface has been changed to reflect more of Windows Live Messenger. This includes graphics, sounds and some icons.
